Blind

we sit here in our comfort
we sit here in our complacency
we sit here in our materialism
we sit here in our blindness

you show me in the Bible where it says these are the things that should describe His disciples
you tell me where Jesus was comfortable, complacent, materialistic or blind

when did satan deceive us
when did we drink the kool-aid
when did we fall into the trap

why aren't we outraged at the senseless deaths of teenagers on the streets of our nation
why aren't we sickened by the fatherless epidemic sweeping America
why aren't we crushed by the tears of starving children all over the world
why aren't we broken for the drug dealers, the hookers, the child prostitutes, the homeless

we sit in our air conditioned church and worry about soda on the carpet instead of baking in the heat with those who need Jesus the most
we fill our bellies at potlucks and we grow larger and larger while the world around us crumbles

we should be ashamed of ourselves

we sit
willfully
happily
complacently
comfortably

blind

we have the cure and we sit and watch while the world around us dies.

we are blind. and soon, it may be too late

  1. I love this. It is so true how so many people live day to day so focused on their own lives and not trying to help or even make a difference in the lives of others.
